Lease dictionary
Right of entry
When and how the landlord may enter your home - usually with advance notice.
Right of entry defines when the landlord can come in: repairs, inspections, showings. Most states require advance notice (commonly 24–48 hours) at reasonable times, with genuine emergencies as the exception.
A lease can't erase notice requirements in states that set them - a clause allowing entry 'at any time' is generally unenforceable there.
Watch out
'Landlord may enter at any time without notice' is a top-five lease red flag. Check your state's actual notice rule.
